Life
The Gospel of Matthew is the first canonical Gospel [1][2]. Tradition ascribes it to Matthew the Apostle, while most modern scholars treat it as anonymous [1]. It is dated about AD 80–90, probably in Syria, with Antioch often proposed [1]. The site quotes its account of Christ's baptism (3:16–17) and of the institution of the Eucharist (26:26–28).
