![“With each one of the faithful does He mingle Himself in the mysteries, and whom He begot, He nourishes by Himself, and puts not out to another; by this also persuading you again, that He had taken your flesh. Let us not then be ungrateful to His kindness, having been counted worthy of so much love and honour. The mysteries set before us are not of man’s power, but He that then did these things at that supper, this same now also works them.” — St. John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew, Homily 82, 5](/uploads/sites/1274e232-e31c-46f4-a48b-27b854406479/media/evidence-7a0c5853-70b0-4e48-804c-fd9442db3b24-en-square.png?w=1080&h=1080)

### St. John Chrysostom says in “Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew Homily 82, 5”:

With each one of the faithful does He mingle Himself in the mysteries, and whom He begot, He nourishes by Himself, and puts not out to another; by this also persuading you again, that He had taken your flesh. Let us not then be ungrateful to His kindness, having been counted worthy of so much love and honour. The mysteries set before us are not of man’s power, but He that then did these things at that supper, this same now also works them.

### Who is St. John Chrysostom?

Born c. 347 AD, reposed 407 AD. St. John, Patriarch of Constantinople, was called John Chrysostom, or John of the Golden Mouth, in recognition of his eloquence, his rhetoric, the beauty of his style and phrasing, the power of his words, and the effect of his sermons in meaning and form. St. John Chrysostom, priest of Antioch and Archbishop of Constantinople, is also described in the liturgical services with many attributes, for he is: the first preacher of the whole world, who kept his mind pure from the passions and became like God after being tested by trials like gold in the fire
